Vicar

Our Vicar, Tiffer Robinson has been in post since October 2022. Before ordination Tiffer was training to be an Electronic Engineer when he felt called by God to become a Vicar. After training at Ridley Hall he spent 13 years serving in a number of churches in rural Suffolk. He is excited to be leading these congregations in sharing the good news of God’s love in Christ with the people of Bury St Edmunds.

Associate Vicar

Andy is Associate Vicar with responsibility for St Peter’s Church, our other church. Before ordination Andy was Youth Pastor at St John’s Church, Woodbridge.
Andy is passionate about the Bible and helping all people know the God revealed within it

Lay Pastor

Hazel has been a Lay Pastor in this parish for over 20 years and is keen to help our community to care for one another. Showing the love of God can help His people to develop a meaningful relationship with Him. She enjoys training and supporting teams to do this through a variety of activities, especially visiting.

St Mary's Children’s worker

Jenny has helped, then led Children’s work at St Mary's over the last 15 years.

She is passionate about helping Children learn about the Bible and Christian faith, though stories, crafts and music.

Jenny is a semi-retired Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator and Queen’s Nurse

Youth Coordinators

Adam and Hannah have been involved in youth and children’s ministry for a number of years across a number of churches and are heading up St Mary’s youth ministry while we await whoever will be our next Youth Worker.

Director Of Music

DB took up the position of Director of Music in 2023 having previously been Sub-Organist, Choir Director and Acting Director of Music.  At St Mary's he is repsonsible for the training and nurture of the children and adults who make up the Parish Choir, St Mary's Voices Chamber Choir, and Melody Makers.  A qualified teacher, DB has over 20 years' experience teaching music, leading choirs, playing, singing, and accompanying and has performed on four continents. 

Lay Minister

Deborah was licensed as a Reader (lay minister) in 2023, and is loving it so far! She particularly enjoys reading scripture and exploring its layers of meaning, and finding ways to share that with others.

Lay Minister

She was formerly Schools’ Adviser for St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocese, as well as Religious Education Adviser in both Suffolk and Norfolk, working widely with teachers, pupils and clergy.

She still enjoys visiting local schools as well as leading worship and preaching.

Church Administrator

Katie keeps St Mary’s running smoothly and is usually the first port of call for anything to do with the office here. She coordinates and publishes the newsletter and puts together all of our regular services and much more besides.

Events Manager and TCC Bookings

Jackie arranges all of our special events in church that fall outside of our regular services. Please contact Jackie about concerts, weddings, funerals, and civic services. Jackie also coordinates the bookings for our parish centre the Thomas Clarkson Centre, and is our PCC Secretary.
