Civic Services
As the civic church of Bury St Edmunds, St Mary’s hosts a variety of civic services over the year, including the Battle of Britain Commemoration service and Remembrance Day.
Colours and standards of The Royal Air Force and The Royal British Legion adorn the north aisle and west wall of the church.
In the regimental chapel of The Royal Anglian Regiment, the colours of The Suffolk Regiment are laid-up.
On the wall of the tower is a memorial to the gallant crew of HMS Birkenhead.
Ours is a church with deep connections to the armed forces.
