“Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous deeds among all peoples.” (1 Chronicles 16:24)

Mission Focus

We believe that one of the purposes of the Church is to make the Good News of Jesus known in our town, nation and world.

Each month we focus on a different mission organisation. They might be local, national or international. Some are large charities that you may have heard of, like Tearfund; others, like the Fifield family, have a personal connection with our church. All of them seek to make Jesus known by serving people in need.

Organisations that we support:

  • The Fifield family, serving at Bingham Academy in Ethiopia, through Serving In Mission

  • Bury Town Pastors

  • Open Doors

  • Bury Christian Youth [BCY]

  • Tearfund

  • Sporting ’87

  • Bury Drop-in

  • Storehouse foodbank

  • Dignity Freedom Network, India, anti-trafficking awareness and action

  • Montgomery Heights (orphanage and school) in Zimbabwe

  • Global Hope

  • Emergency Appeal

Every organisation has a representative in the church who will give a presentation about the work and needs of the organisation, and information about the organisation will appear in our weekly newsletter. A proportion of the church’s regular giving for that month will be given, and anyone who wants to give an additional donation can do so; information about giving can be found in the weekly newsletter.  Most importantly, we can pray for the organisation and the people they serve, at the prayer meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of the month (7pm on Zoom), in the Sunday services and at home.

If you would like to know more about the organisations supported, take a look at the notice board at the back of church, or speak to the representatives on a Sunday morning.

This Month’s Focus

Tearfund

Tearfund is a Christian charity which partners with churches in more than 50 of the world’s poorest countries. We tackle poverty and injustice through sustainable development, by responding to disasters and challenging injustice. We believe an end to extreme poverty is possible.

Thousands of people needlessly suffer and die every day because of poverty. But that’s not God’s plan for the world. And God is calling you – all of us – to reach out to people in greatest need. We partner with local churches and organisations who have a crucial role to play in the places worst affected by poverty.
